Serra do Alvão is one of the most beautiful mountain ranges in mainland Portugal. It is located in the district of Vila Real – Trás-os-Montes, north of Serra do Marão and west of Serra da Padrela. It integrates the municipalities of Vila Real, Mondim de Basto, Vila Pouca de Aguiar and Ribeira de Pena.
