The sculpture, more than 7 meters high, was made by António Duarte, after a petition from the parish priest who witnessed the local people´s faith during their wild winters, when a Cruzeiro was implanted at the highest point of the immense Serra da Estrela. Located in Covão do Boi, in the heart of Serra da Estrela, the Senhora da Boa Estrela, patron saint of the shepherds, was built in low relief on the rock, inaugurated in 1946.
