The eastern section of the wall around Óbidos constitutes the nucleus of the wider wall that surrounds the castle and the town. Access is via four doors and two shutters, the most notable being the Porta da Vila or Porta de Nossa Senhora da Piedade, surmounted by an inscription, placed there by King D.João IV (1640-1656), which reads: The Virgin Our Lady was conceived without original sin. Inside there is a chapel with a balcony, covered in tiles from the 18th century.

Later, I would join the children of Casa Pia in Lisbon here, also at mealtime..

The Renaissance gallery is very elegant and of beautiful proportions, worthy of note is the delicate work of the capitals and finely fluted shafts, the artist's surprising mastery over the hardness of the granite stone. Before the century. XVI this place was occupied by the royal palaces, which were then demolished to build the cloister there. To see in the PIP: The tiles were placed in the XVIII century and represent scenes from the life of S. Teotónio, patron of Viseu
