A spool of 16mm film taken with a 16mm camera. The film is some old Russian Svema film that expired in 1982. I’ve shot with it, but it’s degraded too much and the results were very splotchy. I cut down some 35mm film to use in this camera, of which only about 28,000 of them were made. This shot was taken at the camera's closest focussing range of 13 inches. An old spool of Russian 16mm black and white film I bought to try and use in my Minolta 16mm camera. Even though it's well expired, black and white film seems to be viable for much longer a period than color film.

Our first, appreciable snow of this Autumn. Geez, it’s not even Winter, yet! I was trying an experiment with this supposedly one-shot Adox Adonal Rodinal-clone developer. I used it for a total of 7 different days over a 9-day period and it kept chugging right along. This last time I used it, it seemed to have gotten much darker, so I dumped it. But it worked fine to develop this last cut-down negative in my Minolta-16 II subminiature camera. There was a heavy fog that covered my landscape early this morning, so I couldn't resist the urge to go out and shoot something in it. Here's a headstone I've shot before (seems I've shot everything in my area before - this is getting old!) sitting next to the reservoir as the fog moved in. A little history of the man that is buried here. Thomas Langford was born on February 24th, 1814, and died at age 40 on March 28th, 1854. It is interesting to note that, while at the age of 18, he fought in the Black Hawk War of 1832, which was fought in Illinois and parts of Wisconsin. This is the first time I've gotten to use my subminiature Rollei 16 16mm camera. I cut down some Kodak Tri-X to fit in the camera, and although I didn't have it cut precisely or aligned correctly, I did get a very usable image to see how it performs. I suppose that when they said technology had left it behind and there are much better cameras and film formats available, they were right. James Bond might find it usable in his line of work, though.
