Conjunction August 1978

I happened to catch this conjunction of the moon and Venus when I was using my high school's yearbook camera - a Konica Autoreflex TC. I was the yearbook photographer that year, my senior year. Camera: Konica Autoreflex TC Lens: Konica Hexanon AR 50mm f/1.7 Film: Kodak Kodacolor 100 Date: August 1978 Location: Norris City, Illinois, U.S.A. Konica KSF 5035 Conjunction 02-1gf

Conjunction April 26th, 2020

I was taking out the trash earlier tonight and looked up and saw Venus and the moon close together. So I set up my camera on a tripod and got a shot of this conjunction.

Starlink

I believe I saw the Starlink array (if that's what it's called) fly over tonight. I was out getting ready to shoot the moon/Venus conjunction and looked up and saw a long train of satellites coming toward me. I was not prepared to get this shot because I hadn't set my camera yet, but it looked interesting when I first saw it.

Super Moon

Two nights ago, on April 7th, 2020, we had a Super Moon. This is a shot I took of it and it is not cropped. I just used a really long lens and a 2X tele-converter with it to get this close.

Moon-Saturn Conjunction

16 Jul 2019 1 5 216
This is the conjunction of the moon and Saturn I photographed a little over an hour ago. Taken on July 16th, 2019 with a Sony Alpha SLT-a77v with a Minolta AF Zoom 70-210mm f/4.5 zoom lens. It was raining and cloudy the day before and the day after I took this image, but there was a small break in the cloud cover for about 15 minutes that allowed me to get this shot.

Saturn

Saturn happens to be very close to the Earth right now, so I wanted to get a shot of it if I could. I was most interested in shooting it on the night of July 15th/16th, as it was going to be in conjunction with the moon. But, it's been raining here for the last two days when I wanted to take the picture. Finally, at about 4.20 a.m. this morning, there was a small break in the clouds for about 15 minutes and I managed to get this shot. It's not very clear, but I think it's pretty impressive considering I used a DSLR with a zoom lens of only 210mm! Mounted on a tripod and using the self-timer so as to minimize potential blur. Camera: Sony Alpha SLT-a77v DSLR Lens: Minolta AF Zoom 70-210mm F/4.5 Shooting Program: Manual ISO: 400 Aperture: f/9 Shutter Speed: 1/40 Date: July 16th, 2019, 4.20 a.m. Place: Norris City, Illinois, U.S.A.

The Final Frontier

I photographed these stars earlier tonight. It's so peaceful under the night sky and I could stare at the stars for hours.
