When I first moved to Norris City in 1974, Dairy Days was actual days long, instead of apparently only one day now. It would run from Wednesday to Saturday. I don't know if this sign is implying it's only one day this year, but they always had the Queen contest on Friday night so the new Queen could ride in the parade on Saturday night. Then a band would play last after the Queen contest. This is Camel Rock, located in the Shawnee National Forest. It’s a popular attraction in Southern Illinois. This area used to be the bottom of a sea and millions of years carved these rocks out of the sediment that solidified. This particular rock looks like a camel that has one hump.
