Party In Room 149

Back in 1997, my brother and I attended a Star Trek Convention held in Cape Girardeau, Missouri between July 25th and 27th at the Holiday Inn there. This is a screen capture from the videotape I recorded of the event. This particular sequence was taken by my brother because that's me in the open doorway of room 149. My brother and I were staying in the room to the right, room 151. But, the party was next door to us. You can't see my eyes because I've got my Wayfarers on.

I started taking pictures of the television screen back in the late 1970s of my favorite shows. Of course, Star Trek is one of my all time favorites. Using the multiple-exposure feature on my Minolta XD11, I would take multiple screenshots on one frame - kind of like my version of a Viewmaster reel. This particular episode was "The Doomsday Machine." This was at the end of the episode when Kirk and Spock were reviewing what just happened.
The lab I was sending my film to to be developed always did this to the final frame of each roll. They would flash some kind of code, I suppose to identify who's film is was and then tape each roll end-to-end to be developed. This process usually ruined the last perfectly good frame on my rolls because, if you would work it right, you could get one extra shot on the roll past frame number 24. But the lab would always do this, ruining it.

This is the very first negative I ever shot on Kodak Tri-X black and white film. And it was just a couple years ago that I found it. Actually, I uncovered it. When the lab was developing this roll, they had tape over the beginning, which covered up this negative two numbers before the properly named number 1 negative. I removed the tape, washed off the tape residue and it revealed this first ever shot I took. Pretty important to me!

The episode of Star Trek, entitled "The Immunity Syndrome." The Enterprise and crew come upon this giant amoeba in space and have to defeat it. I ended up watching this very episode tonight!

From 1976 to 1982, Lenoard Nimoy hosted the syndicated television show "In Search Of...." Here, Captain Kirk is handling the hosting duties. The flowers are crocuses and they have just bloomed out in my yard within the last couple days.

Me At The Star Wars Premiere

This was taken at the new Star Wars movie - The Force Awakens, when it premiered on Thursday.
A funny thing happened while I was wearing this shirt at the movie. After the movie ended, there were five guys sitting together in the row behind me, and they were talking about the fact that Han Solo had been killed at the end of the movie. I turned around to them, making sure they could see my Spock shirt and reminded them that, just because a character can be killed off, that doesn't mean he's "gone" forever. We'll all remember how Spock was killed at the end of "Star Trek II - The Wrath Of Khan," and he was "resurrected" and brought back.

Attempting to use 35mm film in an instamatic 126 camera. Apparently, I have a light leak issue. I guess I need to come up with an old 126 cartridge to use.
