In 1959, the Doris Day movie "Pillow Talk" was released. In it, she plays a single woman who lives in apartment number "2001." Of course, everyone is familiar with the Stanley Kubrick film "2001 - A Space Odyssey," released in 1968. In 1959, Kubrick and his family moved to California, which was the same state that Doris Day lived in. Could the fact that her apartment number was "2001" have had anything to do with the naming of Kubrick's 1968 film? Is this just a strange coincidence, or something else? You be the judge.
