Ripples as the lock gates to the canal are opened to allow a vessel into the Crinan Canal Basin, The ship DUKE OF NORMANDY II was built in 1934 for the German Customs service and was originally called 'Ems' after a varied history she was sold in 1975 to the British Waterways Board where she was used on the Caledonian Canal to tow the gate-lifter barge around.
