A fishing village built at the head of an inlet of Loch Fyne called East Loch Tarbert, on a narrow isthmus which connects Kintyre to the south with Knapdale to the north, It is known as the gateway to Kintyre! HFF and a large view for clarity please!

Yachts moored in the basin at the western end of the Crinan Canal with the first canal lock on the left of the image! The 9-mile-long canal links the Sound of Jura to Loch Gilp for access to the Clyde Estuary thus avoiding the long trek around Kintyre especially the exposed Mull of Kintyre ! Ripples as the lock gates to the canal are opened to allow a vessel into the Crinan Canal Basin, The ship DUKE OF NORMANDY II was built in 1934 for the German Customs service and was originally called 'Ems' after a varied history she was sold in 1975 to the British Waterways Board where she was used on the Caledonian Canal to tow the gate-lifter barge around.
