A moss covered bench on the seaward side of Tumpan Church,
Trumpan Church, Isle of Skye, which is probably from 1330s and it lasted until 1578 when the doors were barred and the thatched roof set on fire with a congregation of MacLeods at worship inside, this atrocity by the Macdonald clan was retribution for an attack on clan members on the isle of Eigg
The history and reason for this and the associated clans in these bloody massacres can be read here sobt.co.uk/trumpan-church

These very attractive stone colours are at Kilwinning Abbey and monastery in North Ayrshire, Scotland.
It is I understand a type of limestone from a local quarry, (Goldcraigs freestone quarry)
Founded in the late 1100s it was the home of Tironensian Benedictine monks, who lived here for around 400 years, the majority of monks would have come from the Mother House of Kelso Abbey.
Large view for detail and HWW!

Chapel with a tragic history in the grounds of Dunstaffnage Castle,
1462 is the year and events unfolded on the 20th December as a bridal party walked through the woods from the castle, The 3rd Lord of Lorn Sir John Stewart a widower was to marry his mistress a MacLaren of Ardvich with whom he already had a son.
However before reached the chapel a vengeful relative who had hidden in the bushes ambushed and stabbed him several times, He was carried into the chapel where he found enough breath to make his wedding vows before he died, This ensured his sons inheritance!

A dark and mysterious castle with a long history, This is Dunstaffnage Castle which was built before 1240 and has far reaching views across the Firth of Lorne, Once the stronghold of the MacDougall Clan it was captured by Robert the Bruce in 1308 and stayed in Royal hands until 1409.
In 1746 Flora MacDonald was held here before her transfer to the Tower of London, for aiding the escape of Bonnie Prince Charlie. ,,,,,,,,,,,,, HWW! ,,,,,,,,,,,,,Large maybe
