DownsSteam has bought a diesel hydraulic loco. This requires a bit of work, a year or two, but then will allow us to run loco hauled trains during fire bans and rescue any failure by a steam or railmotor train. The loco was originally owned by Queensland Rail but when no longer needed there was bought by Bundaberg Sugar for conversion from 3 foot 6 inch to 2 foot gauge but this never happened (the Mill operates a 2 foot gauge system which moves harvested sugar cane from the field to the mill during harvest season). Four members travelled here to prepare it for being craned onto a truck which carried it to Toowoomba the next day. This shot and the 2 PiPs were taken when we first arrived. October 2024
