After Christmas as we farewelled a daughter and her family this magpie took advantage of the open front door and walked in. We found this after the family had left. I first saw the bird on the kitchen floor looking at the refrigerator from different angles. Then it saw us and it walked around the house a bit pausing in the bathroom. We then got out of its way so it walked directly from here back to the front door and when outside it flew down to the grass and garden.

My wife went to the letterbox this morning and the magpies were interested in what was happening. March 2024. See PiPs.

I was pruning some shrubs and this magpie came around finding food in and around the cuttings. At times it was only centimetres from my feet. It wasn't bothered by my continual movement. June 2022.

Welcome to Spring! Hazards of walking around the streets. These birds, apparently around 20% of this type, do this through the nesting season. September 2017.

This young bird was on the gate as I approached on the path on the other side. I gently rotated the gate through 180 degrees and the bird remained so I took this shot. November 2016.
