The Up 'goods with pass' has been marshalled and is ready to depart Bombala. The car on the station is the taxi connection with Canberra-Monaro express. Shunting the Down train and turning the loco on the turntable was done in pouring rain and a freezing wind but when the work was done the weather improved. February 1974.

The guard unloading bags of dog biscuits from an S truck at Nimmitabel. The heavy rain had eased to a light drizzle. I was travelling with the guard and gave him a hand with some of his tasks. February 1974.

If I recall correctly the extention from Cooma to Bombala of the Mail from Sydney was a 'goods with pass' (corrections please). Passengers were catered for by a pair of facing seats in a compartment across the end of the freight guards van. This Saturday in February 1974 it is waiting to leave Cooma headed by 4821. This loco is now preserved at the Goulburn Roundhouse Museum. (late note) The guards van is a type with no passenger accommodation so passengers may not have been expected.

At Cooma a paybus, FP13, fitted out as a passenger railcar used as a connecting service between Cooma and Bombala. Unfortunately when I was there insufficient passengers meant a taxi was used instead.
