Lift-off

A mute swan ( Cygnus olor ) in the middle of a noisy lift-off at Østensjøvannet, Oslo.
When processing this photo, I discovered that a nesting great crested grebe can be seen by the water's edge in the background, to the left in the photo. A nice surprise. :-)

I went to this place because I've noticed that a robin seems to hang out here often. Playing with shutter speeds is a nice way to pass time while waiting for a bird! :-)

There are many opinions on the new area in Oslo, but at least it's a great playground for photographers! Around and between the "barcode" buildings, there are lots of architectural details, lines, reflecting surfaces and other elements that can't easily be found elsewhere in Oslo.

I took this photo because of the beautiful colours on the leaves on the ground and in the trees, but for some reason I think it turned out much better in monochrome.

The sun and the earth

That is the title of this statue ("solen og jorden"), created by Ørnulf Bast. It stands in a park by the central train station, much loved by pigeons and gulls and surrounded by construction projects.

Morning photographer

Got up early to catch the sunrise and the "golden hour" by the lake Østensjøvannet in Oslo before work. It was quite cloudy, though. Sometimes cloudy sunrises can be amazingly spectacular, but this morning was... well, just gray.
Oh well, the light was still quite warm and soft and the lake was nice and calm -- and anyway, morning photography is definitely a good way to start the day!

While the indoor compartment of the boat is packed with people (on such gray days with "bad weather"...), it's nice to stand outside, peacefully overlooking the Oslofjord.
