On Sunday the boys went to a hobby show arranged by the shelter "Min Ven Katten" in Odense. At the stage show Bastian received much praise from the judges, but only came second. The deserved winner was a beautiful tortie (calico) girl. No hard feelings for that - a Hobby Show is not as serious as a "real" cat show and it's just wonderful seeing the joy when a cat keeper wins for the very first time. On Sunday the boys went to a hobby show arranged by the shelter "Min Ven Katten" in Odense. Rags is a very experienced showcat, but this was only Bastian's 4th time. Still he did extremely well and won many hearts with his kind personality. The mixed breed field was very strong, but Bastian won one of the four nominations for the final stage shows. But the cuddling had paid off - Rags won a 3rd prize in the audience vote for sweetest cat... This was last year, when we first met Bastian at the shelter. He was 5 years old and in need of a new home... Today August 8th is International Cat Day and all I can say is: Cats do not end up in shelters for their own mistakes and there are so many wonderful cats waiting for adoption. Sören Fernström and Signe are two fundraising cats belonging to Ann-Sofie and Lars Leveau . This shot is from 2015, but last weekend at this year's cat show in Kristianstad they raised 5.000 SEK for cat welfare. Yesterday we visited Dyreværnet 's shelter in Copenhagen - and on Friday Bastian will move in with us and the Somalis. We were browsing the shelter homepages for a suitable third cat to adopt and this boy seemed to fill our wishes - mixed breed, 5 years old, brown tabby with white, very cuddly and used to living with other cats. At the shelter he is known as Bailey, but since we know another cat of that name, he will be renamed to Bastian . I'll pick him up tomorrow and an appointment for neutering has been arranged on Monday. Hopefully by the end of next week we have succesfully brought him together with Rags and Caitlin.
