she's a happy plinth!

01 Jun 2012 338
Cut-paper collage postcard. When I saw that woman, I immediately knew she longed to be a plinth for a lizard. The lizard is a Physignathus cocincinus , whose common name is the Asian Water Dragon. It apparently likes to hang out on riverside trees in southern Asia. If threatened, it'll jump in the water, where it's a powerful swimmer. The big green blob is a bird's-eye view of cultivated land in the Congo. Muchas gracias, Angelica (aka Snapatorium), for the clipping of the pajama-clad gal.

Collared Lizard

I made this postcard for a woman who says she'd like to "collect lizards." She lives in El Paso, so this lizard is native to her area. Collared lizards are pugnacious. Fast, too--apparentlly they can run on the ground on their hind legs, looking for all the world like a tiny dinosaur!
