la belle dame sans merci

22 Dec 2011 1 2 339
Cut-paper postcard created for the Kollage Kit . Title (obviously) from the John Keats poem. Images of golden dame and machinery plus pink fire are from separate Astounding magazine covers in the 1930s. Tarot cards of the Tower, the Empress, and the Hanged Man are from an Italian version of the Marseilles deck, the images on which may date back to the early 1500s: Hanged Man is upside down by accident, but it's kind of fitting. =smile=

yellow science mania

28 May 2012 305
Cut-paper collage postcard on which I played around with the color yellow. Background is the surface of the sun. Giant lifting big yellow planet is from a 1930s-era cover of Astounding magazine. I don't know what's in the Erlenmeyer flask, nor do I know what singer that is. The labeled diagram in the upper part of the image is of a nuclear reactor. Here's a question for you...There are two American comic strips quoted in this collage. One is easy to get: on the right is Dagwood with his sandwich makings, from the strip "Blondie." What's the other one?
