After her assasination, German Kaiser Wilhelm II purchased Achilleion Palace and used it as his summer residence. It was used as a military hospital for French and Serbian troops during World War I and as military headquarter for axis powers during World War II. It is now managed by the Hellenic Tourist Organisation and is open to the public.

The Taj Mahal is a masoleum and memorial that was built in Agra, India by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his favorite wife, Mumtaz Mahal, who died during the birth of their fourteenth child. Contruction took place from about 1632 until approximately 1653, employing about twenty thousand workers. It was built out of marble with semiprecious stones inlaid as decoration. The central dome has a diameter of 58 feet and rises to 213 feet. The tilt of the tower in the foreground is only the effect of the 18 mm lens.

The Taj Mahal complex consists of a number of buildings including the iconic white masoleum. One of these buildings is the jawab (answer) which served as an architectural balance to the similarly designed mosque on the western side of the complex and may also have been used as a guest house. The walls are composed mostly of red sandstone with inlaid white marble.
