Somali ostrich
The adult Somali ostrich differs from the common ostrich in that its exposed skin is blue, rather than pink and the tail feathers are white.
Ostriches weigh up to 105 kg (231 lb). They are flightless but can run up to 69 kilometers per hour (43 miles per hour). They can kick with enough force to kill a lion
Ostriches live individually or in small herds in which there is a dominant male leader and a dominant female. The dominant male will mate with multiple females in the herd. He will dig a shallow nest for the entire herd to use. After all the eggs have been laid, the dominant male and female will incubate them for around 42 days before they hatch. Ostrich chicks hatch fully feathered and ready to walk.
