Broccoflower

Farmer's Market, Venice, Italy. Broccoflower, or "Romanesco broccoli resembles a cauliflower, but is of a light green color and the inflorescence (the bud) has an approximate self-similar character, with the branched meristems making a logarithmic spiral. In this sense the broccoli's shape approximates a natural fractal; each bud is composed of a series of smaller buds, all arranged in yet another logarithmic spiral. This self-similar pattern continues at several smaller levels. The vegetable is rich in vitamin C, vitamin K, dietary fiber, and carotenoids." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Romanesco_broccoli AIMG_4494

Nothing says fresh meat than a street vender who cuts it to order. Of course, it sits outdoors without benefit of refrigeration and it is subject to passing insects. There is no running wather to wash hands either. Bhaktapur in Nepal was founded in the 12th century and was the capital city of the Greater Malla Kingdom until the 15th century. Thereafter, it was an independent kingdom from then until the 18th century until it became part of Nepal. It isl ocated about 20 km east of Kathmandu in the Kathmandu Valley. AIMG_0563
