Achilleion Palace in Corfu, Greece, was built in 1890 by Austrian Empress, Elizabeth of Bavaria. After her assasination, German Kaiser Wilhelm II purchased Achilleion Palace and used it as his summer residence. It was used as a military hospital for French and Serbian troops during World War I and as military headquarter for axis powers during World War II.
