Going it alone

This young wildebeest swam all the way across the Mara River without being eaten by crocodiles. It bleated for its mother when it reached the other side. Becoming confused, it swam back across the Mara River. It mixed in with the other wildebeest waiting to cross and we never saw it again. LIMG 1960

Huge herds of wildebeest, cross the Mara River in Kenya to follow the rains and get to the grasslands in Tanzania. The crossing is extremely dangerous because Nile crocodiles lie in wait for the wildebeest and lions wait on the other side. LIMG 1934

My husband and I exited the Marble Museum in Proctor, Vermont, only to find a train parked between us and our car in the parking lot. We were unwilling to try to push through the bushes and walk in front of the train so we thought that we would wait it out. The engineer spotted us waiting and backed up the train so that we could cross. AIMG_3268
