While visiting the Mayan ruins at Copan, Honduras, we saw a flock of wild scarlet macaws high up in the trees. Two of them began to fight, by holding onto the branch with one foot while scratching with the other and pecking. This lasted for about 20 seconds before they climbed up on another branch and made up as if nothing had happened.

"The hyacinth macaw (Anodorhynchus hyacinthinus), or hyacinthine macaw, is a parrot native to central and eastern South America. With a length (from the top of its head to the tip of its long pointed tail) of about one meter it is longer than any other species of parrot. It is the largest macaw and the largest flying parrot species; the flightless kākāpō of New Zealand outweighs it at up to 3.5 kg."

While driving down the Pacific Coast Road in Costa Rica, a flock of Scarlet Macaws flew overhead and out of sight over the clift. We pulled over to see if they had landed. They had perched on branches of a fig tree at the base of the clift, making them almost eye level if we leaned way over on the far edge of the clift.
