Pawtucket Red Sox Game. The PawSox are the Triple A minor league feeder team for the Boston Red Sox. They play very good baseball in a family friendly enviroment where the line for ice cream far exceeds that for beer. A ticket along the first base line costs $11 which is a bargain compared to the Boston Red Sox price for a similar ticket of $90. The PawSox played the Toledo Mud Hens and won, sending the local fans home happy. AIMG_5590

Massachusetts Institute of Technology''s 150th Birthday celebration. MIT is one of the premier universities in the world and emphasizes scientific and technological education and research. It was founded in 1861 and turned 150 years old in 2011. Celebrations included technological events, artistic displays, a gigantic 500,000 calorie three-diminsional birthday cake in the shape of the university and fireworks over the Charles River. Many of the old buildings near Durbar Square in Kathmandu, Nepal have intricate wooden carved decorations that have been worn by time and have little protection from the elements. Electrical lighting is haphazardly wired with little regard to preserving the antiquities. AIMG_0065
