The Agra Fort is located across the Yamuna River from the Taj Mahal, A fort stood in Agra since at least 1080 AD. The present fort was built at the sited of the forts ruins. Approximately 1,444,000 workers toiled for eight years to complete it in 1573. The fort is made out of brick and red sandstone and decorated with marble. AIMG_6251

These corbels at Ranthambore Fort show the effects of time in different ways. Ranthambore Fort in India was founded in 944. It passed through many rulers including the Mughal Emperor Akbar, who captured the fortress in 1559. The area surrounding the fortress became a hunting ground for the Maharajas of Jaipur and is now a National Park where wild tigers and sloth bears live. AIMG_5191 AIMG_5231
