The Saturday Self-Challenge: Take a photo of something in your home or yard that is serene or calming to you. Today, I cancelled my trip to Africa scheduled for July. A minor disappointment in the grand scheme of things. I actually felt worse for the tour guides and conservationists who must be suffering from the loss of the tourist income. To ease the sting, I have been going on safari in my yard with my 150-600 lens. I have been very careful not to point the camera anywhere near my neighbors' windows, even if an interesting bird is in the foreground. It is very peaceful to photograph the animals that live in and around the yard. It was a very gray day, and this squirrel was kind enough to pass over the gray fence. I wonder how he avoids splinters. AIMG 5081

Tickling the ivories

Taken for the Sunday Challenge: Grey Idiom: Tickling the ivories is a colloquial expression for playing the piano. This phrase references a light touch (tickling) to a piano's keys, which were traditionally made of ivory veneer. Nowadays, piano keys are made of plastic and most people believe that ivory looks out of place except on an elephant. AIMG 4435

My new Tamron 150-600 lens arrived and I walked around the neighborhood looking for wildlife and tried not to look like a peeping Tom. I have a new appreciation for wildlife photographers trying to handhold a large lens AIMG 3085
