Wild turkeys can weigh up to 20 pounds and have a 5 foot wingspan. They have become acclimated to living in suburbia and can be aggressive.

It is breeding season and the toms are randy. Two flocks met in my yard and put on quite a show for the mostly disinterested hens. They started with wing strikes and ended up with biting the carnucles. They did not seem the worse for wear, despite the battles.

Two male wild turkeys were trying to impress a hen by fluffing their feathers, raising their tail feathers and strutting around. Despite their best efforts, the hen wanted nothing to do with either tom.

Turkey vulture at Cano Negro, Costa Rica.
"The Turkey Vulture is a scavenger and feeds almost exclusively on carrion. It finds its meals using its keen vision and sense of smell, flying low enough to detect the gasses produced by the beginnings of the process of decay in dead animals.[10] In flight, it uses thermals to move through the air, flapping its wings infrequently. It roosts in large community groups. Lacking a syrinx—the vocal organ of birds—its only vocalizations are grunts or low hisses. It nests in caves, hollow trees, or thickets. Each year it generally raises two chicks, which it feeds by regurgitation. It has very few natural predators." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turkey_vulture
