The mighty trombones

13 Jul 2021 9 5 126
When the power went out 15 minutes into the rehearsal of the Metropolitan Wind Symphony, the musicians did not give up but used stand lights, phone lights and iPads to continue playing. When inclement weather results in an indoor rehearsal, members - all of whom have been vaccinated - sit socially distant and the rehearsal room has advanced air filtering. Aimage7

Metropolitan Wind Symphony in concert. The Saturday Self Challenge: Anything that has been rendered obsolete but still being used everyday by people everywhere. Despite the advent of recorded music and streaming services, there is nothing like a live concert. IMG 3403

The Sunday Challenge: Double Exposure I merged two images of the Sharon Band taken at the Boston Festival of Bands in historic Faneuil Hall in Boston, Massachusetts using the double exposure feature in my camera. One was a 300 mm shot and the other was a 16 mm shot. TSCIMG 4260

Harmony (Explored)

13 Mar 2016 24 22 512
The Metropolitan Wind Symphony in concert in March 2016. It takes a great deal of concentration to make harmonious music. I usually play bass trombone with this group, but a broken wrist along with doctor's instructions not to lift more than 5 pounds caused me to miss this concert. I could still lift my camera, so I photographed the concert instead. I'm back to playing now. If you would like to hear the group, check out www.youtube.com/watch?v=i-McqQcVmUE . TSC.
