"Spoke My Tongue" represents one of two poems
that may be featured on the cover or in the first pages of an upcoming anthology by Elvert Xavier Barnes entitled BLACKOUT: The Resurrection of an Oppressed Soul.
The BLACKOUT anthology is the first installment of a biographical trilogy of poetry, essays and other writings written from 1992 thru 1995 that sheds light the authors experience as a gay black male who practiced integration.
BLACKOUT as well as the other two installments of the trilogy, namely "Some Punks & Pussies But Some Prophocies Too" and "Absolute Freedom" will be developed as the Broadway bound stage production "THIS IS FOR THE BLACK MEN WHO CONTEMPLATED SUICIDE WHEN THAT RAINBOW WAS ... JUST TOO MUCH!".
Reflecting on "FOR THE COLORED GIRLS WHO CONSIDERED SUICIDE WHEN THAT RAINBOW WAS NOT ENOUGH" and Anna Deveare Smith sytle of theatrical interview projects the stage production of "THIS IS FOR THE BLACK MEN" will integrate the photography and videography of Elvert Barnes with his writings.
Any and all of his artwork in various forms may will also be included in the production.
This represents my first video of the BLACKOUT Project.
