There are many erratics of Lewisian Gneiss scattered all over the Stoer peninsula, left by the retreating ice sheets of the last glaciation. There are several visible in this photo - some identified by the notes - perched on top of westerly dipping sandstones of the Stoer Group (late Precambrian, 1.2 billion years old).
