The Egg Box (good or bad?)

16 Jul 2006 173
This was the obvious nick-name given to the Sheffield Town Hall extension, completed in the mid-1970s, situated to the rear of the Peace Gardens. Its futuristic design caused a lot of heated discussion among Sheffield residents ( "in't it blooody awful" was a typical comment). Personally, I thought it was quite exciting when it was new and fresh, as in this picture, but over the years the concrete exterior became stained and shabby. Some of my friends worked in there and never really liked the interior as a working environment. Whatever your viewpoint, the building is now gone forever. Taken with a Zenit 'E' camera on Kodachrome 64 transparency film.
