23 Feb 2011 266
A day on the Marloes peninsula - 2 Pembrokeshire, west Wales. A view across Jack Sound from the western end of Wooltack Point. Skomer Island is visible in the distance, partly obscured by the smaller Midland Isle.

Dipping slabs

Dipping slabs of Cambrian-age sandstone on the east side of Caerbwdy Bay, near St David's, Pembrokeshire. I just liked the way the breaking waves highlighted the rhythmic repetition of the dark bedded rocks.

More views of Porth Clais and St Brides Bay from the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path. Here, steeply dipping beds of Caerbwdy Sandstone (Lower Cambrian age) guard the entrance to Porth Clais. These slabs are often used by climbers.

Carreg yr Esgob and Ramsey Sound

It was a glorious day out on the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path. I just liked the colour of the the sea and the rocks and the warm sunshine - a great pleasure after seemingly endless days of horizontal rain. Carreg yr Esgob (Bishop's Rock) in the middle distance; Ramsey Island furthest away.

It was a glorious day out on the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path. I just liked the colour of the the sea and the rocks and the warm sunshine - a great pleasure after seemingly endless days of horizontal rain. Ramsey Sound - the narrow stretch of sea between Ramsey Island and the mainland has a really strong tidal race, as can be seen here. The low black rocks towards the upper right are known as 'The Bitches'.

Trevaunance Cove and the Blue Hills, St Agnes, Cor…

Originally uploaded for the Guesswhere UK group. A rainy day cleared to give a bright evening and lively sea driven by a stiff north-westerly wind at Trevaunance Cove, near St Agnes, Cornwall. The cliffs and the hill just out of sight to the right (Blue Hills) are riddled with old mine workings and tips. Wheal Kitty is close by.

Surf at sunset, Dunwich, Suffolk coast. Only little waves - you'd hardly notice them really, but I liked the tube they made.

Surf at sunset, Dunwich, Suffolk coast. I liked the way the blobby water danced around in the rays of the setting sun.
