After referring to Nilsson and Persson (Fungi of Northern Europe) I think that this is Suillus granulatus, but could be a Boletus. Anyway they were delicious sweated in butter!

End of their lifecycle: the caps have dissolved into a malodorous slime, colonised by maggots. There are small brown flies hovering about.
