I've led a sheltered life. I recently learned (via the GWL Group) that a pair of shoes hanging on a telegraph wire indicates the nearby business premises of a Purveyor of Substances. However, it's more likely that these shoes are evidence of wild student behaviour.

May be unfair - you can only see this at night with the indoor light behind it.
