Another unusual Queen Anne's lace

Queen Anne's lace typically has a central flower that is dark, dark, almost eggplant purple. But this one has a much lighter one, which makes it easier to see the structure of that tiny center blossom. (This is not the same specimen as the one whose other flowers are purple-edged, which is also an anomaly and a pretty one -- but its central flower is nearly black!)

Okay, I'm practicing bug stalking with the 60mm Micro-Nikkor, which goes to 1:1, but you have to be really close to get there. It can be done. But I'm going to have to drink much less coffee.

Tiny cowrie beetle

I gave it this common name, because it so resembles the common cowrie shell. It is less than an eighth-inch long, but I thought it very pretty.
Egg watch, day 16: that's that!

This morning they were all empty, at least of the bugs that were supposed to hatch from them. But now I'm wondering if the little reddish-brown lumps are perhaps themselves some sort of parasitic things, perhaps mature organisms or possibly the larvae of something else. Anyway, it seems the eggs were of a marmorated stink bug, so I'm glad it turned out this way.
I'll keep an eye on them for new developments.
