On the other side of the closed bridge is a road that runs parallel to the closed road. It was decided that work needed to be done on the now-closed road, so they closed it. But they didn't fix the bridge. So everybody had to turn around and drive many miles out of their way. In a simpler times, the result would have involved beatings of those responsible. Oh, for simpler times!
