This was taken from the back of a boat, handheld. Mostly, I wanted to see how well the little Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX3 would handle a picture lit by nothing but the reflection from the sky on a cloudy night, and how well its image stabilization performed. Pretty impressive on both counts, I think. I should note that this is a JPEG straight out of the camera. I suspect that the RAW file would be even cleaner.

Camp manager John Hurlbut gets the night fire going. I made the picture largely to see if the little DMC-LX5 would do it without any tricky settings. It chose 1/100 second at f2 and iso 80, all of which surprised me (well, maybe not the f2 part). For best viewing, click on it.
