Well, actually, the Hocking River.

When you forget to set white balance

Colors can go all haywire, not to say apocalyptic. It's still possible to salvage a black-and-white version, though. And I kind of liked this result, which is my idea of what terraforming would be like on the planet Mercury.

Fog over the farm

A cool and quiet Monday morning, the beginning of a gorgeous day. The fog is gone from everywhere but the river.

A few minutes later, the fog was gone.

Hocking River flooding

23 Feb 2011 218
This was after just a little bit of rain. More is predicted -- we'll see later how much worse it gets. Cattle grazed just a few days ago where the water is now, off Route 329 in Guysville, Ohio.

Receding, but still wet

Water higher here than it was a few days ago, but on its way out. Was across the road -- had to go through it to get to this spot -- but rushing back toward the river.

Same river -- Hocking -- different flood

The Hocking River in flood yet again. If you've looked at the earlier pictures, you'll recognize the barn at the right. The riverbed, by the way, is on the left.

Hocking River Flood, April 21, 2011

22 Apr 2011 179
You can tell by the faint submerged yellow line where the road is; the small red bit between the pole and the yellow sign at the center, two-thirds up, is a mostly submerged pickup truck. This was on Route 329 between Guysville and Stewart, Ohio. The flooding was expected to worsen over the following two days, as new rains moved into the area.

Maundy Thursday flood

The sun reflects off water -- several feet deep in places -- in what is usually pastureland.
