Smoke from wild fires filling the sky above Upper Loch Torridon

Fire rapidly moving towards Annat. You can just see a fire engine approaching along the road through the smoke.

Giant steps are what we take...

Again, notice that there are areas the fire just didn't touch.

Quite a mooring!

Looking from Camusteel (near Applecross) across the Inner Sound towards Raasay and Skye.
Sometimes you just get lucky, and on this day I certainly did! Just turned a corner heading out of Camusteel en route to Toscaig and saw this. Jammed on the brakes and got camera out!
Thanks to JWP for format comments.
For a different perspective, have a look at this photo .
The old fishing station at Redpoint, Gairloch

Someone has kindly dug some old anchors etc into the ground, which makes this a bit more interesting.

Scotland really does have some beautiful beaches. Shame its generally not warm enough to fully enjoy them!
And how often can you take a photo like this without any clouds in it!

Looking across the inner sound towards Raasay. The prominent flat-top hill on Raasay is Dun Caan which is that shape due to being the remnants of an extinct volcano.
The ship in view is one that tends to fish farms around the isles and sea lochs.
Took this photo while sitting down and having a drink on the beach, having just walked to the top of Croic-bheinn and back.

This is photo 1 from a series of photos taken on a walk done from Inveralligin to Diabaig and back (by a different route).
Looking south towards the Alligin area and Loch Torridon beyond. We came up the path on the left rather than the road - shorter but steeper!

Having passed through the Bealach na Gaoithe its all down hill to Diabaig. This is the view you get of Loch Diabaigas Airde.

Brief lunch stop sitting on the pier at Lower Diabaig and looking towards Meall Ceann na Creige which we were about to go up.
If you have ever been unfortunate enough to see the film "Loch Ness" (the one with Ted Danson) - this wee village features in it as the place he stays on the shore of Loch Ness!!! Check the map location to see just how far away it is! This is also a sea loch (unlike Loch Ness) so i wonder how much attention they paid to the tide! The last building on the right featured as the hotel (outside only).

The way out...

The path out from Red Point north beach goes through some large dunes. Just liked the way the rocks were scattered.
