The Pennan Phone Box

Pennan was one of the filming locations for the film "Local Hero", which famously features a phone box, just not this one. That one was a fake box, this is the real one!
The beach scenes were filmed here:

Mither Tap

Mither Tap is the most prominent peak in the Bennachie range of hills in Aberdeenshire. As you can see, there's a good path up to it!
Mither Tap fort walls

There was a hill fort at the top of Mither Tap which is believed to have been occupied roughly between 1000BC and 1000AD. What looks like a well organised pile of stones in this photo is actually part of the outer defensive wall.

Oxen Craig, also in the Bennachies range, is actually slightly higher than Mither Tap, although much less prominent.

St Cyrus Beach

Photo taken from one of the steep paths that lead up from the beach to the top of the cliffs above.
This looks southwards down St Cyrus beach, most of which is a national nature reserve.
Portsoy harbour at low tide

This old harbour, built in 1692, is unusual in that the stones in the walls run vertically. They believed that this would make them less likely to be washed away - seems to have worked!
