Mystery of the Lost 'Bum' - PiPs

01 Jan 2023 52 73 317
Drumburn Viewpoint on the Nith Estuary on the Solway Firth in Dumfries and Galloway. Across from here on the other side of the Solway Firth is the English coastline On Google Earth the sign on the wall at the entrance to the viewpoint reads 'Drumbumburn Viewpoint 2004', - either an error or we have the strange case of a missing bum! I guess if it was an error they had to 'Rub it out and start again' I have therefore added a song by Lynsey Paul and Mike Moran called 'Rock Bottom' I believe it came second in the Eurovision Song Contest www.youtube.com/watch?v=9qktTavgC1c

Body and Soul! HFF!

Taken from across the moat at the Bishops' Palace in Wells, Somerset, the view shows Wells Cathedral in the background and a little boy on the left gently feeding the pigeons. I guess that means body and soul are nurtured here! The link is 'Body and Soul' performed by Tony Bennett and Amy Winehouse www.youtube.com/watch?v=_OFMkCeP6ok

Church of St Laurence, Priddy (PiPs)

26 Jan 2020 43 34 405
Church of St Laurence, Priddy on the Mendip Hills. Originally built in the 13th Century the church was partially rebuilt in the 15th Century and restored between 1881-1888. The churchyard is said to predate the church. The stained glass window was donated in memory of Catherine Gibbons of Eastwater Farm who died aged 19 in 1988. The window shows her beloved horse. (Please see PiP) Priddy itself is steeped in history. Priddy sheep fair has been held on the green from at least as early as 1348. There are also four earthwork enclosures called the Priddy Circles. These are thought to have been the site of henge monuments. There is also evidence of a number of possible Bronze Age barrows said to be associated with the circles. I have added 'In A Country Churchyard' by Chris de Burgh as the link www.youtube.com/watch?v=GivSUKTILUQ

Lydeard Hill (PiP) HFF!

The first reasonable Sunday for a while so we decided to drive up to Lydeard Hill for a walk in the fresh air. It is a popular spot for walkers and riders alike (see PiP). I have added the David Gates song 'Sunday Rider' www.youtube.com/watch?v=t-u3LXIruFc

The Guards - HFF!

19 Apr 2018 49 96 782
A Somerset view between the trees. They look as if they are guarding the gateway. In the distance stands Glastonbury Tor. If the trees could talk they would tell tales of the changing seasons and the people who have stood here to admire the view. I have therefore added 'The Memory of Trees' by Enya. www.youtube.com/watch?v=KIpt_BIrIzM Best viewed large.
