Die ziemlich große, bis 18 mm große Gemeine Waldschwebfliege oder Gemeine Hummel-Schwebfliege ( Volucella pellucens ) ist eine Fliege aus der Familie der Schwebfliegen (Syrphidae). Sie ist völlig harmlos und saugt gerne Blütensäfte, wie im Foto an einer Distelblüte. Man findet diese Schwebfliegen bevorzugt an Waldlichtungen und Waldrändern. Die begatteten Weibchen dringen in die Nester von Wespen oder Hummeln ein und legen dort ihre Eier ab.
