1580 wurde das Julius-Spital Würzburg eröffnet, initiiert und finanziert aus seinem Privatvermögen vom damaligen Fürstbischof JuliusEchter. Der goldene Schriftzug über dem Eingangstor (siehe Foto) besagt: "Das Juliusspital für Arme, Preßhafte (übersetzt: Gebrechliche) und Kranke". Das Juliusspital ist Bestandteil der Juliusspital-Stiftung, die 1579 gegründet wurde. Sie hat alle Kriege überdauert und ist bis heute voll funktionsfähig. Fast unglaublich!
