In Franken ist es Brauch, dass an diesen Tagen die Gräber besucht, gepflegt und geschmückt werden. Ein schöner Brauch. Die Aufnahme entstand auf dem Würzburger Hauptfriedhof. Würzburg gehört zu den Städten, die noch in den letzten Wochen des Zweiten Weltkriegs mehrfach bombardiert wurden. Dem schwersten Angriff am Abend des 16. März 1945 fielen fast 4000 Menschen zum Opfer. Die historische Altstadt wurde dabei zu 90% zerstört. Die vielen Toten wurden in einem Massengrab vor dem Hauptfriedhof begraben. In der Mitte des Massengrabgeländes wurde 1954 eine Denkmalplatte des Würzburger Bildhauers Fried Heuler in den Boden eingelassen, das Mahnmal 16. März 1945 . Es verkörpert symbolisch einen Mann, eine Frau und zwei Kinder überlebensgroß in Todesstarre, siehe auch das PiP. Nie wieder Krieg!
