Best viewed Large. Some test shots: -First shot is taken with on camera flash as is. You can see the extention of the macro on the super zoom causes a shadow at the bottom of the image if you're very close -Second is the styrofoam wrap method to diffuse, you can still wind up with the shadowing at the bottom and the light is still harsh in some highly reflective places. -Third is the DIY Ringflash (which cost me nothing using my american wayzes at the takeouts). This is a bit darker, but when you view large you can see the light is brilliant and even on the subject. Probably could be better lit if I turned the flash up, but I wanted all three set to same amount. These are as shot straight out of camera and put on collage for comparison.

The macro screws onto the clip/holder which has just enough space to hold the ringflash into place. You can see here the flat base of the dish is what you want to allow the light into, which is why I could use a bigger dish. Credit for the idea goes totally to Photophool . First live results :)

Last summer I used a styrofoam wrap for the flash to diffuse it, until I remembered an article a friend pointed me too long ago, so had a look around for options.
