The Rotunda Temple has spawned several stories about Fuller and his cohorts.
Unfortunately, we may never know exactly what went on.

On 20 September, 1808 Covent Garden Theatre burnt down. It was redesigned by Sir Robert Smirke opening less than a year later on 18 September, 1809. It demonstrates the neo-classical style so much in favour at the time and probably the inspiration for this Temple.

It has been said that he entertained lady friends here...perhaps even held orgies. Others speculate that he held card parties in the temple and gambled with his cronies for very high stakes.
I think he just enjoyed a enclosure to admire the 360' views from this position in East Sussex.

Evidence of many a visitor in more modern times although this Folly is on private land, and does require that you get permission to get inside and up close.

Standing stately atop a small hill in Brightling Park is the Greek, or perhaps more properly, Rotunda Temple.
My second favorite of the Fuller Follies we visited, as evidenced by several photos :)

These carved stones lay behind the Temple in an S shape. The fields are now filled with a riding obstacle course for jumping and the stones seem to have been incorporated into this.
