Arachnoids

The group of folks that showed up for the British Arachnological Society Field Meeting at Rye Harbour, its all very techy stuff but was great fun to hang out with them, even if I didn't understand half of what they said...lol We had seriously high winds but we still managed to find a few species that are in need of monitoring and protecting, so all in all a very good day.

BAS Field Meeting at Rye Harbour Nature Reserve, where we were in search of some of the more rare spiders recorded. I've never seen one of these before, and it was not going to sit pretty for me, but as a Red Data Book species and a specialist of Rye Harbour NR I wanted a shot. Gorgeous caterpillars.

Ant with Dead Queen?

29 Jun 2013 229
BAS Field Meeting at Rye Harbour Nature Reserve, where we were in search of some of the more rare spiders recorded. Found this guy dragging what I thought was a wasp or sawfly across the shingle, but looking at it, it appears more like a large ant.
