Red Legged Partridge

01 Apr 2009 112
This is the first partridge I've ever seen in life, and I was so excited. I thought this was just a female pheasant until the second one appeared (a nesting pair), still until I got home didn't realize what I had caught. This one ran back and forth along the fence trapped by my presence, they must be quite stupid birds, he was well hidden and a good distance from me, until he started actin like a fool lol. Too good to pass up posting :D

Llama

A Llama to go with my Alpacas, I can see now how you couldn't mistake them if you see them together.

Pheasant Crossing Sloooowww

I loved this, I tried all day to get a really nice shot of a pheasant and we parked the car on the side, and I jumped out to try once again for the day. Then he slowwwwwly crossed the road on the S L O W sign.. priceless.

This isn't the greatest shot of this guy as the light was fading but couldn't resist it, what a gorgeous bird this Great Crested Grebe is. The fishermen of the area report there is a nesting pair!!

Blue Tit

01 Apr 2009 119
I love these little tits, they are so vocal and lovely to see. We have a running joke in the family now though, that all birds in the UK should be named 'something something crested tit' or at the very least ' something something crested, lesser spotted leather breasted non-tit' ;)

Coot

The Family

22 Apr 2009 118
We've been watching this mating pair since a about a month back when we went down to feed the ducks, at that time the dad pictured here was madly protective of the female and the bread we had for her, he stood back and let her eat every crumb. She seemed starving at the time, I'm now we just got a lucky break and caught her off this nest to grab a quick bite.
