Literally 10's of thousands of Chalkhills at this site in Friston Forest. Its absolutely enchanting to sit and just watch them all. Everywhere you looked in the grass there were thousands.

I know they get some nutrients from this, bit distasteful but hey at least its a good use for all that dog poo.
Oddly I only ever saw males doing this.

I can't even explain the site of so many butterflies hovering inches above the ground everywhere you look. Highly recommend it to anyone!

There is so much competition for a mate that the newly emerged females are probably just about the only ones available. This male was rooting around trying to get his mate, her wings are not dry yet.

Dewey dayz
Had a visit to Friston Forest on the 28th, was soo wonderful to see we went back early morning on the 30th and the dew had covered everything. It was stunning to see :)
